Born July 1–22: The Cancer Cat The Cuddler

An early-July Cancer cat is the one who notices you left. They wait by the door, inspect the grocery bags for reassurance, and then reclaim your lap as if to make sure you don’t try that again. Home is the whole world to a Cancer, and you are the center of it.

Best Friends Animal Society reported that its network partners took in “a staggering combined total of nearly 253,000 kittens” in 2017, and quoted one shelter’s description of the season as its busiest time, all landing “within 90 days.” Cornell’s Maddie’s Shelter Medicine Program places July squarely inside the May–October intake peak.
